There are three main services for rental cars on Kauai:
- The first are the traditional rental car companies like Alamo, SIXT, Thrifty, and others. We recommend using Kayak and other search aggregate websites to find those.
- The second is the carshare app TURO. Please note that all TURO cars that service the Lihue airport are not actually located at the airport. They can only be accessed at a lot via the TURO shuttle, which only operates once or twice per hour. When renting a car through TURO, we recommend adding at least one hour or more to your travel time to and from the airport. Additionally, many TURO vehicles cannot access some of the beaches on island and require renters to wash the car before drop off.
- The third (and most inexpensive option) is Rent-A-Wreck in Lihue, which offers low-budget solutions for travelers who are looking to save money on rental cars.
